Are you stressed out trying to get the kids on the bus, and you and hubby out to work on time every morning?  Does chaos and clamor ensue despite your best efforts?  You CAN reverse this down trend with a few simple changes in your evening routine.  I call this taking it Easy!  Let’s begin with a capital E.

Efficiency and organization is the name of this game.  In order to ensure a smoother execution of your family’s morning routine you have to start the evening before!  Early preparation and family cooperation will be the key to effortless morning success.  Enlist the talents and energy of the entire family to get the job done.

  1. Give the kids a designated area, hook, or shelf for their book bags, shoes, and jackets.
  2. Give hubby and yourself a designated area so cell phones, car and house keys are at the ready.
  3. Have kids double check that homework is completed and in their folders.
  4. Spend 10-15 minutes max making those lunches the night before.
  5. Depending on the ages of your kids, they can help by bringing you their lunch boxes, getting juice boxes, snacks, utensils, and napkins to complete the task.  TIP: Have Dad set the egg timer to encourage a little healthy competition among the sibs.
  6. Have them lay out their clothes and other essentials the night before.
  7. Plan and choose breakfast options before bed.

By becoming a model for your children on the excellent economy of organizational skills, you will be helping your entire family in the process.  Teaching yourselves and your children to think ahead will create exceptional time management habits in your home and increase your family’s sense of peace and order.

Hectic morning schedules challenge even the best moms.  You don’t have to do it all by yourself.  Encouraging the kids and hubby to do their part will allow each member of the family to shine!  Restoring your family’s morning equilibrium will be as easy as, well…taking it easy!
